Background information

The Atterbury Theatre is a superb classic concert hall and it is optimally 'tuned' in terms of spatial acoustical properties. This ensures the good functioning of audio systems employed in modern shows and conferences. The theatre is perfectly situated on the corner of Lynnwood Road and Daventry Street, as part of the 73 000m prestigious multi-use Lynnwood Bridge Atterbury development. The theatre is developed by Atterbury as part of the exciting retail space with a mix of trendy restaurants, a Woolworths food store, speciality stores and a City Lodge Hotel.

With the growth of arts festivals in South Africa over the past several years, there is a need for smaller theatres outside the festival scene, that can continue with the new productions and promising young artists. This world-class, 400-seater, "West End"-style theatre is already a popular

What distinguishes this theatre from any other similar sized theatre is the technical equipment which has been installed in the theatre. A team of professionals collaborated to meet the technical requirementsof a theatre, namely sound, lighting and acoustics.

The most advanced technology available on the market today, makes this theater the ideal venue for any type of production, CD releases, children's theatre and musicals to drama and comedy pieces, book readings, classical music performances and rock shows.

An increasing number of private institutions use the theatre for conferences, alumni events, fashion parades, choir festivals, dance productions and charity concerts. The theatre also includes recording studios that can be used for the recording of CDs, DVDs and performances. The Atterbury Theatre is equipped with the latest audiovisual technology, which makes it ideal for conferences and product launches. The venue has a back-up generator that can handle the entire theatre's power needs, including theatre lighting and air-conditioning.

The auditorium is equipped with a teleloop system, which makes it possible for persons with hearing disabilities to listen to any production. The theatre and centre also has wheelchair facilities.

The experienced, professional team that operates this exceptional theatre promises to make a visit to the theatre an exciting experience. Paulette Reyneke has years of experience in theatre management and she manages the Atterbury Theatre with the assistance of trained and qualified staff.

Atterbury

The Atterbury Property Group was founded in 1994. During its 19-year existence Atterbury has built a sound reputation for delivering exceptional commercial, office and retail assets. Over the past few years the group has been awarded several accolades for best property developer in South Africa.

The Atterbury Theatre is part of the Atterbury Trust and is also utilised to promote cultural activities in disadvantaged communities. When Atterbury was established in 1994, a conscious decision was taken to plough part of the wealth that would be created back into the community. The Atterbury Trust was thus created with the primary objective of promoting and supporting Christian-based education in Afrikaans-speaking communities. The trust mainly award bursary loans to financially needy students, but is also involved in the further support and mentoring of those students. A secondary objective of the trust is to provide vital financial support to disadvantaged schools and pre-primary schools situated in the western suburbs of Pretoria.

The Atterbury Theatre is also made available to schools and community organisations to present concerts, plays and choir festivals.
